    • A virtual number can be used as a separate second line by upgrading.
      • You need to pay for a virtual number to upgrade to
      • Much cheaper than a second line.
      • The minutes are still from the same soft cap bucket of 3000 minutes

    • You can revert it back by "upgrading" back to the primary line.

    • If you keep both PHONE PORT #1 AND #2 as primary
      • The the virtual numbers route to the main number.
      • That is the cloned line mode where both lines ring.

    Either way,
there is a second line that can independently make outbound calls.

Hope I am being more clear? Happy to clarify further

I followed you up till the line:

You can revert it back by "upgrading" back to the primary line.

That may be like when I talk to Verizon about cell phone service and they talk about upgrade ever 2 years. I think upgrade means increase in service / cost. I guess renew or change is a better definition?

When you revert 'it' back, what do you wind up with?

My situation with our 2 phone lines (call them phone numbers X & Y) that used to forward on busy to the other line with verizon and got ported over to voipo and are on their own accounts:

Simul ring isn't forward on busy.
Voipo doesn't offer forward on busy specifically, but does offer that cloned line. Instead of trying to simul ring the other number, maybe I want a 4 line phone? Lines 1 & 2 on the phone are the 2 lines for phone number x and lines 3&4 on the phone are the 2 lines for phone number Y? if I am on line 1, someone calls x, then line 2 rings?

I am spending more time overthinking all this than I will on the phone : )

    Maybe this will help...?

Default behavior with primary number and virtual number (i.e. cloned line)
An incoming call on either phone number will ring both the Line 1 and Line 2 ports on your adapter simultaneously. If either line is active in a call while another calls comes in on either phone number, the line in use will hear a call waiting beep and the unused line will ring.

Behavior with a virtual number assigned as a 2nd line
An incoming call on your primary phone number will ring only on Line 1. If Line 1 is in use while another call comes in to your primary phone number, Line 1 will hear a call waiting beep. Line 2 will not ring.

An incoming call on the virtual number will ring only on Line 2. If Line 2 is in use while another call comes in to the virtual phone number, Line 2 will hear a call waiting beep. Line 1 will not ring.

Note: With either option, there is no "busy" status per se like there is with Verizon. By default, an incoming call while the line is already in use will trigger a call waiting beep, a ring on the second line (if using cloned line) and forward to voice mail if neither are answered.

Upgrade is the term used on that page link.
There is no cost. It is two unique lines if you 'upgrade' a virtual number.
It is a cloned line if you 'upgrade' back to the primary number (Cloned line).
