are canadian numbers discontinued or just overlooked in the new
reseller control panel design? i dont see any options in the menus
    that were there before.

    (https://cp.voipwelcome.com/reseller/create_account OR
    https://cp.voipwelcome.com/phone_numbers OR https://cp.voipwelcome.com/billing/included_accounts)

but i do still see canadian options on the Voipo express local forwarded
    options...

At this time we're not going to be providing Canadian coverage.

I'm sure you know that our Canadian coverage has always been very limited. One of our US carriers had a few Canadian areas that they offered so we've included those numbers in the past. That coverage is very limited though and not enough to offer full coverage. The pricing is also 3-5x our US wholesale pricing so it's hard to make a profit on them. As an example, number porting is $25 wholesale.

At the end of the day, we feel that it's best not to offer it with the limited coverage and higher costs at this point. If we are going to offer it successfully and get the coverage up and cost to a reasonable level in the future, we're going to have to work with a Canadian carrier partner.

There's also not a cost effective/quick way to ship the devices to Canada and deal with customs, etc. This is another area where we would have to work with a Canadian vendor.

If we offer limited Canadian coverage, don't ship devices there, charge double for everything, etc it really detracts from the level of service we normally provide and we feel it's a bad move overall.

Right now if we offer Canada, it's just a butchered offering that it just isn't going to be very attractive and we'll have a ton of people complaining about the limited coverage and higher pricing which will detract from the VOIPo brand overall.

In the future, we will likely partner with a Canadian carrier and a Canadian hardware vendor and add Canada fully at that time.

It's something we may look at in the future, but our focus is on the US now.

    One year later....
Any updates on Canadian numbers Tim?

the voipo express ordering STILL shows that the numbers can be ordered.

i think a way to do this would be for Voipo not to directly
offer Canadian numbers but for the reseller to decide if it would be beneficial to each individual reseller.

i have been a beta tester with a Canadian number and my number currently is active and has been working fine.

Overall, I don't expect that we'll offer Canadian numbers.

The main barrier for Canada is cost. Wholesale rates for Canada are 4-5x what they are in the US depending on the area. I don't see us offering it until wholesale pricing drops to a level where it would be profitable for us to offer it.

Right now, there's just no profitable way to fit it into our model without charging drastically more money than we do for our US services.

As far as the Express order form, I wasn't aware the cities were still showing there, but you'll notice that they are all "To Be Assigned" with no numbers listed. We don't actually offer them now so those orders would just be cancelled/refunded. We'll update the order form to remove the cities so there's no confusion. Thanks for pointing this out.

I know it's not what you want to hear, but ultimately we can't offer something that won't be profitable for us.

One way I have been able to get around this is using other DID providers and selling my service as basically a trunk. For example using les.net or did4sale Iam able to buy other DID's outside the US and do a sip to sip call when some one calls that number it is a sip redirect to the VoIPO number in the US. On the outbound calls. I have been able to successfully spoof the caller ID (using asterisk).

Just a thought for those that are interested. I love the voipo service and I am shocked how fast my service offering has grown using them. Though for me to get those extra few clients some times I have to get creative.
