Default Understanding Virtual Numbers and their capability

I haven't used these, so I have a few questions on Virtual Numbers...

    1. Can they designate distrinctive ring tones on a BYOD? Or only on the supported Linksys ATA?

    2. Does each VN have a separate voicemail box and distinct greeting? If so, how do you access VN mailbox?

    3. It looks like when you create a VN, it has a separate minute limit, even if it is "under" a FULL account. Is there a way to pool the minutes between a VN and a MAIN number?

    4. Anyone have a general description of how to best make use of VNs?

    Thanks in advance.

    1. Would depend on the device... unless they set the ringtone in their CP (this should override).
    2. Yes. You have to set the mailbox in the CP=>Voicemail, then call in to it and use the password they type in.
    3. No, you can't literally pool the numbers. You sell a package with a set limit of numbers. Then you can choose (or ask your customer) how to split those minutes between the lines. 10-25% on the VN is usually good and can be adjusted towards the end of the month (until you get to know your customer's pattern).
    4. Virtual numbers are incoming only. They are perfect for toll-free customer calling, roll-over lines when the main line is busy (keep in mind the main line will work on two calls at once), for giving to people you don't want to have your main number, or for people who would normally have to pay long distance to call you - you can give them a number local to where they live.
