I see from the forums that G711 is / was the only CODEC that would work with VOIPo. Is that still the case?
My Panasonic TGP551 offers G722 and G729A, and a few others (but no G711). I'm looking to switch, but I don't want to give up the great features on my cordless SIP phone system!

We don't officially support other codecs.

I'd be surprised if your phone doesn't support it...they may just call it something different. What are the other options listed?

You're absolutely right. I looked at the administrator's manual and it says:
    • G722
    • PCMA (G.711 A-law)
    • G726-32 (G.726 [32k])
    • G729A
    • PCMU (G.711 μ-law)

So it must be the PCMU setting!

Thanks! Hope this info helps someone else too.

    Which G.711 is used/required by Voipo? A-law or u-law?

I believe it us ulaw, since that is common for north america.

    Alaw is common for europe.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong though.
