Default Newbie needs basic set-up directions..

So I am still in the paperwork set-up stage but need some basic set-up help. I have a running Motorola Surfboard modem and a running Cisco Valet router with an active Comcast high speed internet connection, but no PC or Mac connected. When we use this house we bring our iPhones and our iPads. We eother are connected wirelesly to our network or we may have to manually select it but then we are good to go! Can someone tell me how the Voipo adapter connects to the router/modem. Thanks, Bill

There are two ways you can go. The simplest is to put the VOIPo adapter between the cable modem and the router. This works for most people, but didn't for me. The alternative is to connect the adapter to an available Ethernet port on the router. This may work with no additional setup, but some people need to set up "port forwarding" on the router (and reserve an IP address for the adapter.) This what I do.

I will comment that if you go the first way, you will probably need to have your router release its IP reservation before disconnecting it and then connecting in the adapter, as then your ISP will see a different MAC address and it may refuse to allow it to connect.

***Thanks Steve! Not sure how you hook up the VOIPo adapter "between" the modem and the router So if I need to do any "port forwarding" can this be done without a PC/Mac hooked up? I will have my iPad......Appreciate the time to work with a Noob! Bill

In your scenario, with just wireless devices being used, just plug the voipo box into an ethernet port of your cisco router. Let it power up. You should be good to go. You shouldn't need any type of port forwarding or anything being it's the only wired device. Normal setup instructions apply from voipo. I would bring a laptop if you have one. Just in case. mike....
