I used to use an answering machine with my old POTS line. VOIPo voicemail is okay and has some advantages over the answering machine (getting messages via email, for example).

However, one thing I really miss is the ability to screen calls as a message is being left and, optionally, to pick up the phone mid-message and take the call if I decide to. This is very useful when the incoming call has no CID or the person is calling from a phone other than their own, so you don't recognize the CID. I stumbled across this page (http://blog.tmcnet.com/blog/tom-keating/voip/call-screening-patent.asp) which talks about how this might work with VoIP.

Any chance of some kind of call screening feature coming to VOIPo in the future?

And in the meantime, does anyone have a workaround for this that's better than just plugging our old answering machine (and Talking Caller ID, on my remaining real Windows machine) into the adapter?
