Call ID 7a031e6c-98da-122d-6d8b-003048c688e2

I received a call this morning where I had no trouble hearing the caller, but he reported that my responses were delayed about two seconds. We tested this by him saying "Yes" and my repeating "Yes" as soon as I heard it - he said it was two seconds for him.

I haven't received too many calls since getting Voipo and had not encountered such a problem previously. He's going to call me later today and it will be interesting to see if the problem recurs.

Yes, the problem is still there, and the delay seems to be in both directions.

Traveling by satellite maybe?

That's what he thought - he's an ex-Bell Labs engineer with multiple patents on modems. But I'm certainly not using satellite and neither is he. Something odd about the connection between us, as I have not had this issue with other calls. I tried calling him and the delay was still there.

Just curious what you friend is using for phone service?
And what is your area and his? (Example: Mine is 734-437-XXXX.)

Can he call others in your area without hearing a delay?
Can you call others in his area without hearing a delay?

He is using a BellSouth (guess it is AT&T now) landline, area code 561 (mine is 603). I will do some experiments with others.

Can't imagine how NH and FL could run into such latency, but I am no expert in this scenario.

I was experiencing a delay a few months ago. I submitted a support ticket and the problem was fixed. This is part of the Voipo reply to my ticket.

"I made some changes to your provisioning profile to help with audio quality of these calls."

Called my mom, who is also in Florida. No delay (and she confirms what my wife says in that the voice quality of Voipo is significantly better than that of Vonage.) Called my uncle (who reported the delay) and the delay was still there. Strange. Then I had him call my wife's landline, and there was no delay, so it wasn't on his end.

Guess I'll pass it by support and see what they say.

Support made a "change in routing" and the delay is gone. I wonder where my call was being routed - the Moon? :-)
