I noticed that on a call today (for about 16 minutes), I have a large number of "Packets Lost".

Here's the breakdown of what it looks like:

Display Name: "" User ID: 508xxxxxxx

Call 1 Packet Error: 1
Call 1 Mapped RTP Port: 16424 >> 0
Call 1 Media Loopback:

If the packets lost are part of the packets sent, then it appears I'm losing 9.5%.

The call quality was perfect. Clear, no breakups, etc.

Is this normal?

I didn't want to bother support about this and was wondering if others are seeing the same thing (at least those with PAP2T's that report this type of info).

Thanks,

-Craig

No responses to this, so no one probably cares. :)

Looking at another call going on right now.

Encoder/Decoder: G711u
Type: Inbound
Duration: 00:03:00
Packets Sent: 9016
Packets Received: 9020
Latency: 30ms
Jitter: 1ms
Packets Lost: 28510
Packet Error: 1

How can I have more packets lost then sent or received? Does "Packets Lost" mean anything?

I've been in this world a long time and I used to be overly concerned about these things, but you know what....
My benchmark now is whether or not whatever service or program I am using works as it should.

I also like to dig into my PCs that I am constantly building and rebuilding and my routers that I have changed the programming 100 times, but each year, I get less concerned unless something flat out doesn't work.

I had what appeared to be a lost packet problem with my DSL, and after struggling with their so called support, resolved myself to the fact that the service worked as it should and was reliable, etc. , notwithstanding ATT's billing system, which has never and will never work.

I agree with burris. If the service you are using is reliable and you are happy with the quality, then call it good and use this time to spend with your girlfriend, kids, dog or whoever is important to you.

Thanks for the "suggestion". I'm at work, so I can't spend time with my wife or kids (who, by the way, are in school at this time).

As I stated, my service is working fine. I didn't bother support because of this. Topics like this are what these forums are for, no?
