Came back from work Tuesday and saw the RT31P2 phone LEDs dark. Power-cycling the device restored service. Last evening in the middle of some phone volunteer work when we had not gotten calls for a while the LEDs were dark again. Once again power-cycling restored service. Looking at the UVerse modem it shows no downtime during these periods or anytime in the recent past.

This happens to me every few weeks.

I haven't had that loss of registration issue.
Grandstream ATA, on LAN side of router.

Last night I decided to restart the two pieces involved - the UVerse router and the RT31P2. I'm hoping it's something internal to my network.

Uh-oh, Uverse.

Uh-oh, Uverse.
I'd love to know more ... please elaborate. Is this a dig at UVerse itself or problems with the UVerse-VOIPo combo.

Btw, stevech since you're running a Grandstream can you (or anyone else with a Grandstream) try an experiment for me?

UVerse is absurd technology. Trying to push 30MHz or more down ancient copper wires to your home. Even more absurd, if not criminal, is the business ethics of the company now known as AT&T.

Here's the experiment with the HT-502:

Dial 919-863-1200. The recording will ask for the home or office line that has remote access service. Now dial 919-231-4525.

At this point if I'm using the HT-502 I hear something garbled, if at all. With the RT31P2 the audio is perfect as the recording asks you to confirm it and enter a PIN. Just curious if this is just me or if this happens to others with a Grandstream.

Hi, Russell....

At present I using my SPA2102 on a BYOD basis. I dialed the numbers you indicated and the audio quality is excellent.

I have a Grandstream HT-502 in front of the router, and when I dialed the above numbers the audio was perfectly clear. No garble, no distortion. After dialing, the AVR system repeated the number back, and asked for my credentials.

Audio was fine here, with my Grandstream on the LAN side of my home router.

Thanks guys. I have no issue whatsoever with the RT31P2. I'm inclined to retry with the Grandstream (out of curiosity) later in the day.

Well after getting all the reports from you guys, I tried it myself (pulled the HT-502 out of the box and connected it). And, guess what, it worked great in my two test calls. I know for a fact that we've had issues in the past on more than one occasion.
