Hi there,

I had registered for Bank of America SMS alerts to my mobile number. I changed from mobile number to voipo phone number and did a test message from BoA website. I didn't any text message.

Am I doing something wrong?

You should be able to send/receive messages to/from major US cell carriers, but may have problems with specialized SMS stuff like that.

Many of the security/alert type SMS services won't accept VoIP numbers and only interconnect with the major cell phone carriers unfortunately.

Thanks Mr. Tim for the quick reply. Yes, it is unfortunate.

Yeah, it's pretty much the same situation....it's just kind of too new of a thing for SMS to be on numbers outside of the big wireless carriers.

BTW, anything that works with Google Voice should work fine with VOIPo though. We use the same upstream network.

I have not found ANY SMS alert services that work with Google Voice. You get no error, just no SMS is delivered.

There is some hope for GV/VOIPo SMS alerts. They do work with Nixle. http://www.nixle.com/ It's not Amazon or BofA but I do get Amber Alerts to both numbers.

I enabled SMS for my account and sent a text message from my AT&T iPhone to the number. Nothing was received.

I see an incoming message in your account from an AT&T number. Is that the one you sent?

Ok, I see it now. Shouldn't I have received some sort of notification about it?
