Are you going to have our CNAM stored in a LIDB system?

Could you make your sign-up process include a field for "CNAM DISPLAYS AS: _____________."

I know you don't want abuse. If it is only set on sign-up, then there is less likely abuse.
If it could be changed often, you invite abuse.

I would like <first-name> usa2k <last-name> as CNAM if possible.

I ran my number here as a test: http://www.cnam.info/
It had the correct <first-name> <last-name>
My number was LNP: Vonage => Packet8 => VOIPo

(The LIDB could have been set at any of these stages.)

A few comments:

First, it might be worthwhile to look into directory assistance/phone book access. I do think that some customers would be interested in having the option to 'list' or 'non-publish' their number. Of course, you'd need reasonable disclaimers, such as "Changing to 'listed' will get your name in directory assistance in x days or longer (within y days?). Appearance of your listing in a printed phone directory is dependent on publishers' deadlines for adding or removing numbers."

The point is, if their number is 'listed' how would it appear in the phone book? For CNAM, I like the idea of specifying the text during signup. Of course, for the general public, the field would have to be labeled with a more explicit question such as, "How would your like your name displayed on CallerID devices of the people you call? (limit 15 characters) I'd suggest that population of the LIDB be queued, and that each request be reviewed (and released) by a VOIPo employee, to avoid abuse. The first population of the LIDB would be a part of the account setup/activation fee; later requests for changes would incur a small fee and would be done by submitting a ticket. (You could have a web form on your vPanel that would generate an email to support@voipo.com, provided you're comfortable with the security of that method.)

As an observation, you don't seem to be doing a real LIDB dip for my cell phone.
At http://www.cnam.info/ it gave my real name for my number.

(It was likely set while at Packet8.net)

When I call my VOIPo number it says "Livonia MI" instead of <my name>.

??? I wonder if that is because the LIDB you are using comes up empty,
and VOIPo defaults to an NPA cross reference?
Or if something else makes my name unavailable ???
