View Full Version : Asterisk 1.4 or 1.6?

Now that we are allowed (;)) to discuss BYOD, has anyone made Asterisk 1.4 or 1.6 work well with VOIPo? I never got 1.4 working due to the 30 minute session expiration, and 1.6 was just a mess and unreliable for what I need. After trying Asterisk 1.6 for a little while I found it to break more things than anything. I'm on VOIPo's HT502 now but I still have that Asterisk knocking me in the head every now and then!

Odd, when did you last try 1.6? I've been using it for several months with no issues. I am running 1.6.0rc3 now.

It has been awhile, but I think I was running 1.6.1 last time I tried. I just had strange things like my trunks going unregistered at random times, qualify=yes settings causing call failures because of QOS or something I don't remember. Overall it was just a little strange and I started getting burned out messing with it. After I got the GS from VOIPo and found it to work so well, I just went back to Asterisk 1.4 to play with using some other PAYG services.

until a month or so ago, 1.6 was very much bleeding edge. it's been very stable for me now...

I'm new to Asterisk and I'm in the process of adding FreePBX + Asterisk to my linux fileserver(Ubuntu 8.10 server). Any tips/advice in installing & configuring VOIPo? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

What is a problem with 1.6? It's been solid for me. What specific issues were you having?

Anyone using Asterisk affected by the recent outages? Since * seems to reregister often I was wondering if any * users had any problems with the recent events. I am getting the asterisk itch again but trying to talk myself out of it... ;)

I haven't noticed any problems, but I don't check/use my service enough to say that there weren't any. :)
