MWI notification being sent when VM disabled

I am on central01, I am getting a MWI Notify message every hour, even though I have disabled VoiceMail. Any chance of turning this OFF ? The problem is asterisk doesn't seem to like this and sends back a '489' Bad Event, resulting in calls dropping if a call were in progress at that time.

I, also received a MWI on 1/16/2009, in spite having VM disabled. It had me scratching my head for awhile as I had never seen it before. Also heard the "stutter tone". I went to vPanel and clicked on the "Update MWI" which cleared it.
