New Feature: MWI Sync

We've added a new feature in vPanel so you can manually resend the MWI signal to your ATA.

This can be found under Features - Voicemail in vPanel.

Some users are still having issues with MWI. From our testing both in the office and at all, it's been consistently working on the 286s, 502s, and X-Lite. It seems that nearly all users will remaining MWI issues are users using an ATA behind a router and it's likley the "off signal" is just getting blocked in some cases.

We strongly recommend that if you have a 502, you place it between your modem and router. Nearly all issues are resolved by doing this and that's why we do not officially support using the device behind a router. Many (but not all) routers block various traffic and cause problems. If you're seeing issues, try it in front of the router and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised and won't even see any performance decreases unless you have a very very high end internet connection.

With that being said, this feature was added because in those problem cases, resending usually fixes it.

Clicking the "Update MWI" button will send an update to your ATA based on what the MWI status should currently be.

As an example, if it should be on, clicking this will resend the "On" signal. If it should be off, clicking this will resend the "Off" signal.

How long should it take to work, still no change after 15 mins.
Yes I do have the ATA after the router and that is the way it will always be here.
For what its worth, not having this problem with PP and their 502.

If it will help, it'll be within seconds.

PhonePower is likely using a "subscribe" method where the device constantly connects to their service to check for messages. Since we send an alert to the adapter, it does work differently.

Our method scales much better since there's not a constant connection to servers, but there is always going to potential for issues when the ATA is used behind the router. These types of issues are really the reason we opted to move from the 286 to the 502 and only officially support using the ATA in front of the router in general.

We may be able to find another method for it that doesn't require the constant connection, but for the time being it may have issues when the ATA isn't used directly.
