BETA Feature - Scheduling
We are pushing a new BETA feature for residential accounts today that allows you to schedule some of the features to be managed automatically.
Currently, Do Not Disturb and Forwarding are supported, but it's relatively easy to add others if there are others that would be useful on a schedule.
You simply set the date/time to run your scheduled task, when to stop it, and how you'd like the feature set after it's completed.
This uses the timezone set in preferences.
You can find it under BETA - Scheduling. If it's not there for you already, it should be within the hour.
Try it out and let us know how it works for you.

This feature should now be available on all VOIPo Residential Accounts -- listed under the 'Beta' tab. Let us know your thoughts, suggestions, and feedback.

Tim,
Could you add Sim Ring to the scheduled tasks as well?
IMHO, this probably the most useful/seek after feature
Cheers,

We can look into that for the future. The new Sim Ring/Call Hunt feature is being announced on Monday so wasn't included in this yet.

I agree with this idea since it will allow me to shut off my cell phone at night. I leave the simul ring on all the time so I now must turn off the cell ringer when I sleep.

According to Tim's post here -- http://forums.voipo.com/showthread.php?t=1609&page=4 -- we might be looking at a "Press 1 to confirm" feature, which would also allow you to turn off your cell phone at night.
I hope it's possible to implement that so that the "Press 1" applies only to the cell phone but not to the home phone.

Re: BETA Feature - Scheduling
It looks like a wake up call, or any other type of 'alert' call could be easily scheduled under this system. Just a thought.

Re: BETA Feature - Scheduling
Excellent, thanks Tim and crew.

Re: BETA Feature - Scheduling
Tim....
What a wonderful approach...suggestions fly in-you and your staff digest them-the programmers go to work and some nice new features come forth.
Good work..

Re: BETA Feature - Scheduling
I have my time zone set as "US-Eastern" but immediately under Schedule Tasks it reads:
Quote:
Error: Please specify a supported timezone (Features -> Preferences -> Display).
-
Re: BETA Feature - Scheduling
I was able to create a scheduled task (call forwarding) but it's not working. May be related to the error I noted above.
1) I changed the time zone to "America-New York" and still got the same error.
2) Current Time in Schedule Tasks reads "12:00AM" no matter what time zone I select.
-
Re: BETA Feature - Scheduling
I'm getting the same error, so it's probably something in the system. Still, you might want to put in a ticket so that it get's the attention of Support.

Looks like the issue has to do with linked accounts not picking up timezone information -- are you able to use the scheduling for the primary account (what you used to login with as the username)?
We'll get this adjusted shortly to ensure you're able to make scheduled tasks for all linked accounts under one vPanel session.

Re: BETA Feature - Scheduling
Linked accounts should be all set. Let us know if you're having any more difficulty. :)

Re: BETA Feature - Scheduling
Nice job, guys... great feature!
A suggested enhancement to the enhancement (low priority)...
For the "Schedule every" drop down, how about two additional selections:
Weekdays (i.e. schedule Monday-Friday), and Weekends (schedule Saturday/Sunday)
Better yet, a 'custom' option in this same drop-down, that would refer to a special 'custom calendar' we could set up with special dates (holidays, kids are out of school days, GoPack27's Packer game days, whatever days you want to set up as 'special').
Wanna go crazy? How 'bout multiple custom calendars ('custom1', 'custom2', etc.).
Thanks for continuing to update an already impressive service!

That fixed it!

Re: BETA Feature - Scheduling
Time validation should allow setting the DND for overnight
e.g Friday 10PM to Sat 9AM. So nobody could disturb my sleep over the weekend;). Rather than splitting the time up as 2 entries

I have mine setup from 7PM to 8AM, but maybe it works because I have it set to every day.

I tried to setupr Friday nite 9pm to Sat morning 9am and I got the following error
"Error: The start time must be less than the end time for a specific day's task."
-
Re: BETA Feature - Scheduling
I think it would get real confusing real quick if they allowed it by any other means than by calendar day. One entry for each day (Friday and Saturday) is not unreasonable, I don't think.

So how would you set up if you want the weekends DND from 9pm to 9am starting from friday thru sunday morning?

friday - 9pm - 11:59 pm
saturday - 12am - 11:59 pm
sunday - 12am -9am
for friday and saturday you may want to set the 'end task' to something other than 'disable' - probably doesn't not matter though.
12am-12am may also work for the entire day - but haven't tried it

Hmm... the schedule broke after DST ended. I tried rescheduling it, but now it's really wacky. I chose to start at 7 PM and end at 8 AM, but ended up with 11 PM to 12 AM. I would have thought it was just doing +4, but that would have been 12 PM.
Setting 3 PM to 4 AM shows my desired 7 PM to 8 AM. Actually I've changed it to result with 8 PM to 8 AM. Now I need to wait until this evening to see if it activates at the correct time.

Let us know if you're still having this issue with the scheduling tool.

Looks like it's working correctly now. Thanks!
