Yes, it makes sense, and it's better than having a single MWI for all mailboxes. A text message and/or an email should be sufficient.

My wife and I are going from two lines, each with its own number, to one cloned line and a virtual number. I've configured it so that each number rings in to its own "line" in our two-line phone system, and each has its own mailbox, but it's not quite the same as before. It does save a ton of money, however. So long as she gets the MWI, I can keep peace in the family.
