Default Calling with a modem to another modem

Should this work with VOIPo? I attempted to dial to an ISP dialup number and the number answered, but then the call ended while the modem was attempting to connect to the remote modem. Happened several attempts - never did complete. If it should work, I can submit a ticket to have it looked into.

Nope. Data over VoIP just doesn't work well in general unfortunately.

We've had a lot of users report good success with faxing, TiVos, and security systems, but a modem connection is probably pushing that.

    Sorry.

That's okay - I suspected it would be pushing it, but wanted to ask to be sure.

You can usually make it work if you slow it down. TIVO/DIrectv, etc... can't slow down. BUT; if you slow your modem down to 14.4 or 9600 it could work. My fax machine works flawlessly and I had to set it for 9600 baud. I've used dialup modems on voip also and many times it works fine if you slow it down. Remember to slow down BOTH DTE and DCE. Slow the modem physically down, then go into your dialup settings (Default is 115000) and slow it down also to what you set the modem for. Later... Mike....
